  • Pioneering Women with a Go-Giving Theme

Published February 20th, 2009 by John David Mann

One of the most rewarding things for us, as authors, is the number of women who’ve told us that the female characters in The Go-Giver feel authentic to them, and not just like a Martian’s idea of a Venusian.

Indeed, one of the whole ideas behind the book is to give equal weight to those “softer” aspects of success and abundance—giving, putting others first, listening, being receptive, and authenticity—that have often been regarded as more “feminine” traits.

So, how cool is this: the Denver chapter of Business and Professional Women, an organization founded back in 1919 (one year before women secured the legal right to vote!) with a mission “to achieve equity for all women in the workplace through advocacy, education, and information,” has adopted Go-Givers as its official theme for the 2008–2009 year.

Here’s what the Denver Tech Center Business and Professional Women (DTC BPW) said about their new theme:

“As we plan our new fiscal year, our theme Go-Givers will inspire us to do random acts of kindness and help our members and guests in any way that we can think of that is all about giving.”

Now that is inspiring. Our thanks go out to journalist Rose Brown, who alerted us to this through her great article in the Denver Women’s Business Examiner (see link above). Thanks, Rose!
