We received a wonderful email from Randy Stelter, from Wheeler High School in Indiana. Randy is the athletic director Bob mentioned in his last post, who is joining Wheeler High’s principal Don Gandy to bring The Go-Giver to all the 145 students in their senior class.
Randy writes:
We had our first discussion [on The Go-Giver] on Friday with the senior class. I was extremely pleased with their responses.
One of the seniors, Indy Roper, actually came up to Don at our basketball game on Friday and said, “I was a go-giver today!” She went on to share how she helped a lady whose car had died. She had to get her jumper cables and was able to help someone that was in need. Yes, this is only one student, and yes, this was Indy Roper, but again, this can have a domino effect if enough of the Indys out there speak what they have learned.
The spirit is catching on. My wife and I were out for lunch Saturday for her birthday, and a woman in her thirties came in with four girls ages 9, 9, 8 and 7. They were foster children and absolutely adorable. We purchased their lunch and dessert, and I cannot begin to share how awesome the feeling was. Bob and John, thank you!
Thank you, Randy! I can’t even think of anything to add — you said it all.
A high school class being led by their principal and athletic director in a team-taught study of The Go-Giver — how cool is that?
