  • Go-Giving Wisdom (and the Proceeds Go to Orphans)

Published August 17th, 2009 by Bob Burg

Imagine a man who spends his time reading books filled with golden nuggets of wisdom. Not hard to imagine that. But wait.

Let’s say he then dissects those books, extracts those wisdom-filled nuggets, provides his own commentary, and sends it to you in a weekly email. Okay, not real hard to imagine. Hang on.

Then let’s say, just for the sake of argument, that he charges a very modest price of $45 for 104 of his brilliant summaries (that’s two per week). While that’s a truly great price for a lot of truly great quality, it’s still not particularly difficult to imagine.

But now picture this: guess what he does with all that money? He gives it away. All of it.

Hard to imagine? You don’t have to, because it’s all true. His name is Colin Lewis. We love this guy, and in fact, everyone we know who knows this guy loves this guy.

Colin is a European entrepreneur who lives in Poland and does great things for this world. If 100 percent of the monies he brings in from his WisdomNotes project didn’t go to orphans via the Chiva Foundation (which Colin and his wife recently established with a $55,000 contribution of their own), we’d still recommend subscribing. His WisdomNotes are that good.

But the fact is, it does.

So, here’s a win/win: click here and subscribe for just $45, and you will receive the benefit of Colin’s remarkable wisdom summaries—and be supporting some terrific and needful kids at the same time.

It’s a very Rachel’s Famous Coffee Foundation sort of thing he’s doing, don’t you think?

This world has so many Go-Givers. We’re very proud to know this particular one.

P.S. The book’s Colin has already succinctly and beautifully summarized in WisdomNote editions include Man’s Search for Meaning, Tao Te Ching, The Letters of Seneca, Think and Grow Rich, Thus Spoke Zarathustra, The Wisdom of Heraclitus, A New Earth, Happy for No Reason, The Success Principles, Joseph Campbell Companion, The Magic of Thinking Big, The Writings of Emerson, The Diamond Cutter, The Prophet, Walden … and a few dozen others. The man has been busy.

P.P.S. Colin recently honored us by reviewing The Go-Giver in a special edition of his WisdomNotes. He has made the review available as a gift for all our Go-Giver buds. You can download it here.

With a disclaimer that I’m one of those who you know who knows and loves this guy…Colin Lewis’ Wisdom Notes and the good they bring to both subscribers and kids in need truly are special. Thank you for sharing The Go-Giver Wisdom Note to allow your readers to take Colin’s wisdom for a trial run. I think your readers will quickly embrace this unique opportunity to learn and grow as they help others…in true Go-Giver fashion. Rachel would approve!

Bob, I so admired the wonderful job that Colin Lewis did on yours and John’s super book. Colin has a wonderful way of making gems shine even brighter.

FYI, I so respect Colin’s work that every participant in my new program, Accelerate Success, is provided with a subscription to Wisdom Notes. As a resut of doing so, I have gotten to know Colin well and consider him to be truly extraordinary spirit.

Thank you for taking the time to honor such a wonderful man and for making his Wisdom Note on The Go Giver available to your many fans.

And, thank you for you continuing efforts to make everyone understand and honor the fundamentals of being a giver.

Bob, my heartfelt gratitude to you and John David Mann for your kind words and support for Wisdom Notes and the Chiva Foundation.

Your inspirational book, The Go-Giver, provides the tools to change ourselves and in so doing add value and make a positive impact on the lives of others. I am blessed that through the teachings of your wisdom and that of other thought leaders, and with the great support of true Go-Givers like Dr Mollie and Dave Carpenter, I am able to make a difference to the children and in so doing their children’s children.

Thank you for raising the awareness of Wisdom Notes and the Chiva Foundation to your readers – I hope that in so doing the wisdom in your great book is amplified and aids others with their personal growth.

      With much thanks and love,

Wonderful resource…am already sharing this with others. Started the Go-Giver Wisdom Note tonight–tho’t I’d be “done” quickly but already anchored so many tho’ts that I want to digest and act on that I’m saving some of it for tomorrow.

Thanks again, Colin, and thank you, Bob, for providing this “portal” to all that Wisdom Notes provides, and the partnership with Colin & the Chiva Foundation we all can participate in while growing in wisdom at the same time!

I received The Go-Giver from a business person I have yet had the pleasure of meeting. He said he thought of me when he read about Rachel.

As I read the book I thought; I have developed my business on those exact 5 laws. I’m a coffee roaster, and the best part of my business is the ability to give back — give back to the people who grow the coffee, give back to and support my community, and give back to this great planet earth. And, I truly believe I have been blessed to be a part of the amazing world of coffee. My skills as a coffee roaster will benefit so many. I share and educate, and in turn my customers know that when they purchase coffee from me, they too are giving.

Dear Jo — Thanks so much for sharing a tiny bit of your story and your perspective with us! We’re honored that our little bit of story intersects with your real-life experiences! I hope we hear more from you in the future — John

Jo, so glad you are publicizing what Colin is doing. I have been involved in the study and teaching of well-being for quite some time but rarely do you come across someone with the dedication, creativity, and compassion that Colin brings to this project.

The wisdom notes themselves a wonderful idea for people to infuse life and conversation into their readings of the greatest minds. When he sent me a few, I realized that I could be a more active reader and even (dare I say) contribute to the words of luminaries such as Viktor Frankl and Lao Tzu. That in itself is powerful.

The fact that Colin is giving much of this away to orphanages inspires me to give back more…..

Of note, I have no personal relationship with Colin other than the fact that I respect him a great deal for his mission and hope to follow his lead…

      cheers,
      Todd

      Todd

I am extremely grateful for your comments. The lessons in the Go-Giver teach us all valuable life skills. I’m grateful to you and all the community of Go-Givers for helping me to make a difference in the life of many. As my mentor told me “the gift of knowledge and education can change the world” I hope that the gift I am able to bring to the children and Wisdom Note readers helps create a level of calm and understanding towards making some changes in our world.

Thank you for your tireless support.

      Colin

      Dear Colin,
I’ve just been led to your Wisdom Notes through the 104Hours Hall of Fame, where many artists are contributing to your cause. What a great way to help orphans, Colin – thank you so much! I’ll happily join your cause and let others know about it:-))
