Every week we receive new stories both of the unique ways The Go-Giver was shared and the impact that its principles had on readers’ lives.

Now, taking these grassroots efforts to a whole new level is a group of 4 young entrepreneurs who connected with Bob, John and myself on Facebook and were inspired to organize a Go-Giver Tour to meet Bob at Extreme Business Makeovers in Orlando on April 24-26th.

Rather than share all the details myself… I’ll let these passionate guys tell you through this video they produced to kick start their amazing efforts …

WOW… pretty incredible huh? I love their hearts and enthusiasm! And, their mastery of the new tools of social media networking is inspiring to say the least!

I’ll be sharing more in the coming days about this great team of entrepreneurs as well as others who are spreading the message through online media. I’ll also let you know how you can connect with us and help get the word out.

We just learned the results of the 2nd annual Axiom Business Book Awards, an international award sponsored by the independent publishing community aimed at “recognizing and promoting the world’s best business titles,” and in the category of Business Fables, the Gold Medal went to … (the envelope, please) … The Go-Giver and the amazing literary duo (and my friends) Bob Burg and John David Mann (rahhhhhh … the crowd goes wild)!

According to their web site, the Axiom Business Book Awards were created to recognize inspiring business books that help people improve their lives and careers. Sponsors include the Jenkins Group, Independent Publisher (IP), and Inc. magazine.

But that’s not the only “Oscar” I am privileged to award today. From my point of view, a Gold Medal goes to you, our amazing go-givers — thank you for your incredible outpouring of enthusiasm, energy and stratospheric support in getting the word out: you have grabbed this little red gem and really run with it! In its first year, The Go-Giver has been honored with:

the Wall Street Journal bestseller list

the BusinessWeek bestseller list

the 8CR (800-CEO-Read) “Best of 2008” bestseller list

the 8CR “International Bestseller” list

the 8CR daily and monthly bestseller lists (35 times!)

and now

the Axiom Business Book Awards Gold Medal

— and that’s all a result of your putting us on the radar of all these organizations! From Bob, John and me — and Pindar, Joe, Susan, Claire, Sam, Debra, Gus and all the rest — our deepest thanks for a phonemonal 2008. And here’s to an even greater 2009 as together, we work to transform the worldwide business community by living the Five Laws.

“Coach” Thom here. While it’s been great to just sit back and read all the wonderful posts here by Bob and John, I wanted to take a moment as we close out this year to personally express my gratitude and share an idea with you that will take a few moments of participation in order to truly bless others (and it won’t cost you a dime).

First, I can’t adequately express how thankful I am to you, our growing community of Go-Givers, for embracing this “little red gem.” Bob and John did a phenomenal job writing it, but it takes more than great ideas and beautiful prose to transcend literary accolades to become a true movement within the business community. It takes readers who not only believe in the power of The Five Laws, but also decide to bring this belief to higher levels of ACTION. That is exactly what you have done.

Sure, your spreading the word caused The Go-Giver to cross the 100,000 mark within the first 10 months. It created interest that resulted in literally hundreds of interviews, reviews and blog postings. Your excitement has even started a worldwide phenomenon with The Go-Giver now in print in 16 languages.

However, while The Go-Giver’s commercial success is certainly exciting, what I’m most thankful for is the fact that so many have used its principles to improve their lives AND the lives of those they connect with. That is both exciting and deeply fulfilling. So, from the bottom of my heart (as well as Bob, John and the rest of The Go-Giver team) THANK YOU!

Now, about that idea I mentioned … As you know from The Go-Giver, the 4th Law of Stratospheric Success is the Law of Authenticity – The most valuable gift you have to offer is yourself. This holiday season, I’d like to ask you to give the gift of yourself to others in our growing Go-Giver community.

As we’ve been thinking of all we are thankful for this year, one of the things at the top of our list has been all the many wonderful “Go-Giver” stories we’ve received from our readers. Sharing these stories with others has been touching and very powerful.

So, I’m asking you to send your “Go-Giver” story to us so we can share it within our community as well as with others to create an even larger wave in this dynamic movement.

If you’ve got a “Go-Giver” story that you’d like to share, please take a moment to jot it down and email it to gogiverstories@gmail.com by the end of next Sunday, December 21st. It doesn’t matter whether it’s 100 words or 500 words. It can even be a link to video you’ve created. The point is that it shares how you or someone you know has acted on the message of The Go-Giver and what the results have been.

I know our audience well enough to know that you certainly wouldn’t expect anything for this. However, I’d still like to give you a token of our appreciation. So, for anyone that does send in a brief story or video, I’ll be giving you a special audio gift from Bob and myself – a tele-seminar about using social media to help you survive and thrive in the current economic climate.

ALSO, if your story is selected as one of the top 3, you’ll receive FREE tickets to the Extreme Business Makeovers event April 24-26, 2009 in Orlando, Florida … AND the one chosen as the very best will also receive FREE hotel accommodations during the event as well!

Like I said, I know that you don’t expect a reward for the gift of your authenticity, but we’d still like to show our appreciation.

So, please get that story or video to us this week.

Once again, THANK YOU for being the Go-Giver that you are! It has been a privilege and pleasure to serve you behind the scenes this year as we’ve worked to get the message out.

Wishing you many blessings and all the best this Holiday Season!

“Coach” Thom Scott

Dad is a CPA; though the firm he founded, he’s been serving small businesses for over thirty years, and he started recounting stories he’d seen over the years that exemplify the principles in The Go-Giver. (He was also one of the first people to read the book.) One of these stories was so compelling, I had to share it here.

Dad had a client who owned a small neighborhood convenience store, back in the days when convenience stores were neighborhood fixtures where locals did most all their everyday food shopping, before the large supermarkets took over.

One of this man’s customers was a little, elderly lady who didn’t seem to have any family or friends to look after her. Although he had no delivery service, this shop owner started delivering the woman’s groceries himself. Whenever he did, he would also see if there were any little repairs or other odd jobs she needed help with. In other words, he went out of his way to give to someone who could seemingly offer him no tangible benefit in return.

Eventually, the lady passed away—and gave her entire estate of $250,000 to the store owner.

The man was dumbfounded. He hadn’t been helping her out with any agenda. He certainly had no idea she was worth that kind of money. He just saw a need and gave, in whatever way he could.

Now, I’m not saying, “Go help every little old lady you can find, ‘cause you never know when one is gonna leave you money.” I share this story as a great example of how giving works. When we give, we can reasonably expect a return on our investment—but it’s not up to us to determine who or what will be the source of that ROI.

Have you experienced stories like this yourself?

With the help of our friends and colleagues, we launched our campaign to get the word out about The Go-Giver … and it surpassed our expectations!

On Thursday, The Go-Giver hit #7 on Amazon.com’s ranking of ALL books. Also on Amazon, The Go-Giver was the #1 success book and #1 business book (with the nearest business book back at #25 overall — meaning that we were competing with 23 other non-business books for the top spot).

As if all that weren’t enough … The Go-Giver also debuted on the Wall Street Journal’s bestseller list in the #6 spot.

So, it’s official, The Go-Giver is now officially a “National Bestseller” and my buddies Bob Burg and John David Mann are officially “National Bestselling Authors.” Heady stuff indeed. But the REALLY COOL part is that now that it’s appearing on these bestselling lists, people who aren’t even in our network of friends or friends of friends are hearing about The Go-Giver. With YOUR help, we’ve tossed the rock into the lake and the ripple effect has begun.

Of course, surpassing expectations can also carry with it some challenges… one of which was completely blowing out the server used for streaming the bonus videos for purchasers of The Go-Giver. I’ll give you a little run down on THAT fun little challenge in my next posting. (Note: postings will be more frequent now that we’ve officially launched. Rumor has it, Bob or John will also be posting this week as well.)

But, for now, I just wanted to give you the good news and say “THANK YOU” for helping The Go-Giver make a successful debut. This solid foundation that our new “Go-Giver community” (that’s you) helped us build, will make it much easier to get the message of The Go-Giver out into the world so that we can truly change the way millions of people do business and forever improve the quality of their lives!

Blessings and Abundance to you,

Thom

We’re all very excited about the upcoming release of The Go-Giver on December 27th. It’s amazing how this little book is catching on so quickly – before it’s even hit the bookstores! To date, we have well over 40 endorsements from an impressive list of business leaders and teachers. The rights to The Go-Giver have already been sold to publishers in Korea, Japan and Brazil. And, every day, we are getting an increasing number of calls from friends and associates who are asking us how they can help get the word about The Go-Giver out to their spheres of influence. It’s all tremendously humbling and the entire team is filled with gratitude.

With final preparations under way, the kickoff for all the major promotions is set for Monday, January 7th, 2008. Just during the first two weeks, Bob and John will be especially busy conducting media interviews and introducing The Go-Giver to readers of dozens of blogs that cover business and self-development. I’ll update you further when specifics become available.

Meanwhile, thanks for choosing to be part of the growing Community of Go-Givers. Don’t forget to subscribe so you can be automatically notified when new messages are posted.

I wish you all the best!
